That’s why we recently collaborated with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts to produce a series of Andy’s most iconic works.

picture of wallace piatt in glasses
Wallace
By:

My name is Wallace and the art I create is based on 4 points of interest. Observe, Recognize, Sympathize and React. I read a lot on history, watch the political spectrum and indulge in Pop culture. These are my observation points. I then recognize pros and cons of the social system, but being a pessimist a bit I relate to the cons. I then sympathize. I’ve always been for the under-dog, the poor, the working man, People of color and the bullied of the materialistic society. I then react with my art and creations. As far as inspiration on a visual sense I’m drawn to industrial environments, layers of old street art, vintage imagery of past cultures and past chaos of my own life. On the other side of the coin I love blatantly bright colors, graphics with a bold pop feel, and modern minimal settings. The work I compose is an eccentric combination of these two vastly different areas of artistic visions.

My artistic background did not come from study books or school, I was actually pre-med at UC Santa Barbara and then traveled to Europe after graduation. The affinity to biology, math and science ended abruptly when I was introduced to art museums, fashion and new exciting creative processes. I came back from Europe and blew into the clothing business for the next 17 years. Graphics became a prominent part of my life through creating clothing lines with my partner. Strong bold imagery had, and still has, my name written all over it. My process is to use pieces of canvas sewed up to produce a larger canvas. This is a deconstructive style and has a great meaning to me by putting my own shredded pieces of my life together again. My art is created with mixed application of house and spray paint, and oil pastels. I create on the ground so I’m constantly walking and scraping up the piece while working. Mistakes during the process of painting were a great burden to me in the past, but now of a great importance to the overall movement.

“Be regular and orderly in your life so that you may be violent and original in your work.” – Gustave Flaubert 1861

I am anything but regular and my life has become much more orderly with recovery from past demons of recklessness. Sobriety has made my work ethic and creativity soar exponentially and made my artistic life worth living every minute. The art I have created lately has more depth and meaning to me. This is in direct correlation to my life’s mistakes and the changes I have made to make it better.

I love to create.

Josh Soskin
By:

Joshua Penn Soskin began shooting pictures while growing up in Carmel, a seemingly paradoxical seaside community in California, known equally for its affluence as it is for being an artist enclave, its proximity to Big Sur, and its surf and skate culture.

He has created a body of work that demonstrates observation, both intimate and distant, and often nostalgic, accentuated by his choice to shoot almost entirely on film. For almost twenty years, he has been leaving people breathless with images that demonstrate how and why our world is a work of art.  In image after image, we find ourselves captivated by a way of seeing that celebrates life. In our  digital world, through film, Soskin’s work feels timeless and provides a reminder to take the time, look again, and notice.

Soskin is a director and writer of films and commercials in addition to his photography. Two of his major exhibitions, “Analog Escapades” and “Untitled Underwear Project,” featured side-by-sides of stills and moving pictures. Soskin is currently putting together a book (Work in Progress) to articulate how two decades feels and looks through his lens.

Nicole Delesalle
Nicole Delesalle
By: Nicole Delesalle

Nicole Delesalle was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. The daughter of an architect and painter, she was exposed to the arts from an early age and has always practiced and pursued the arts in various mediums. After studying fine arts and philosophy at the University of British Columbia, Delesalle honed her craft and gained new ways of thinking by studying the expressionist and cubist abstract movements.

She attributes her early interest in abstract expressionism to her studies of artists including Pablo Picasso, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollock, and Franz Kline, among others. Delesalle creates works that portray the underlying messages of her subconscious mind, free from influences and conformity, akin to that which can only be found in the most native state of the mind’s eye.

Always having a passion for creative endeavors, Delesalle completed a successful 12 year career in Real Estate Marketing Management with one of Western Canada’s top Real Estate Development firms, Polygon Homes Ltd. While there, she completed UBC’s Graduate program in Urban Land Economics.

A fall into love changed Delesalle’s life path and brought her to Santa Barbara, California, where she currently resides and works from her home studio. Now happily married and raising three children, Delesalle is able to pursue a painting career as her primary profession and ultimate passion project.

SOUL FIGHTERS
2022
By: Nicole Delesalle

“Soul Fighters” depicts a battle of two animalistic characters shown by the artist’s abstracted brush strokes intermixed with Oil Pastel and paint marker. We see two large beings come face to face with conflicted expressions, ready for battle. Delesalle sees this as a representation of the inner turmoil or conflict experienced by opposing corners of the human mind when faced with moral, impactful or life changing decisions.

C SCRIPT #2
2022
By: Nicole Delesalle

This painting by Delesalle is a series of markings inspired by Picasso's cubist movement. Experimenting with extreme cubist shapes to create a new and original cubist language or "scripture"...hidden in the symbols are angled faces, hands and other body parts. The x on the eyes in the faces symbolizes the death of old cubism where curved details and more human qualities were at the foundation.

OLD WORLD

By: Nicole Delesalle

“Old World” is an abstracted representation of a former way of life being replaced with a new more experimental existence - this is portrayed by suggestions of structure intermixed with more spontaneous and gestural markings representing a new emergence. Delesalle uses her preferred palette in acrylic paint layered with pencil, oil pastel and marker on stretched canvas.

chris gocong
Chris Gocong
By: Chris Gocong

Chris Gocong is a visual artist with a passion for capturing emotion through portraiture, figurative art and abstraction. The main body of his work is inspired by the commonality of human emotion and consciousness. His pursuit in portraiture is less about copying features to reproduce a likeness, but rather trying to capture the multiple emotional layers of the subject.

Although portraiture is his main interest, Chris doesn’t limit himself to one mode—his artistic expression ranges from cosmic abstractionism, exploratory textural pieces, to visually striking pop art and everything in between. At exhibits, viewers often comment that the collection looks as though it was painted by multiple artists rather than one. Looking deeper though, the common theme throughout can be teased out: the human condition.

Chris prefers to paint with acrylic on canvas, as he tends to paint quickly utilizing layers to achieve the desired visual.

Chris was drafted to the NFL from Cal Poly SLO where he studied biomedical engineering. He played 7 years as a linebacker for the NFL (Philadelphia Eagles ’06-’10;Cleveland Browns ’10-‘12). He came to find art as a creative outlet and meditative practice after retiring from football. He lives in Santa Barbara with his wife and two daughters.
